Women’s hockey is growing faster than ever, and Import Sports is proud to be part of that movement. Our Women’s Division is dedicated to supporting female athletes in their journey — from youth hockey to NCAA, U SPORTS, PWHL, and professional opportunities overseas.

Women’s hockey has unique timelines and opportunities — and we know how to navigate them. From NCAA to U SPORTS to pro leagues, we build custom recruiting plans that put your name in front of the right decision-makers at the right time.

The Pathway

Foundations & Skill Development (Ages 13–15)

Exposure & Junior Preparation (Ages 15–17)

Commitment & College Transition (Ages 16–20)

Goal: Build foundational skills and gain experience in elite women’s hockey.

Compete in high-level girls’ leagues such as Provincial Girls Hockey Leagues (e.g., Ontario Girls Hockey League, GTHL Girls, Minnesota Girls High School Hockey).
Participate in skills development programs, power skating, strength training, and position-specific training.
Start video analysis with tools like Hudl and LiveBarn to track performance and improvement.
Maintain strong academics — NCAA D1 and U SPORTS programs require solid grades and standardized tests.

Goal: Gain visibility and prepare for college recruitment.

Play in elite junior women’s leagues, such as PWHL (Provincial Women’s Hockey League), Midget AAA Girls, or US National U18 Development Camps.
Attend showcases and tournaments that attract college and national team scouts.
Continue video review and performance tracking to improve game IQ and highlight strengths.
Begin contacting NCAA/U SPORTS programs and understanding recruitment timelines.

Goal: Commit to a college program and transition successfully to higher-level hockey.

Compete in top-tier women’s leagues (PWHL, NWHL/NWHL development pathways, or U18 National programs).
Schedule official/unofficial college visits, attend recruiting camps, and communicate with coaches.
Finalize NCAA or U SPORTS commitments and ensure eligibility (academics, amateur status, registration).
Focus on being coachable, consistent, and academically prepared for the college transition.

Courtney Tourgas

Courtney Tougas brings over a decade of coaching experience at elite levels of hockey, guiding athletes across Canada through development and championship success. She has served as Head Coach at Stanstead College for both the U15 Boys and U16 Prep Girls teams, leading the girls’ program to a JWHL Championship in 2024. Previously, she coached at the Ontario Hockey Academy and Okanagan Hockey Academy, where her leadership contributed to a CSSHL Championship in 2018.

A decorated athlete and coach, Courtney was inducted into the Northern Ontario Sports Hall of Fame in 2023 and has competed at the national level, winning gold at the Esso Cup and multiple OWHA Provincial Championships. A former player for the University of Toronto Women’s Hockey Team, she combines her playing background with High Performance 1 coaching certification to mentor athletes on and off the ice.

Courtney is passionate about player development, and preparing young athletes for the next level of their careers.

Justin brings a wealth of experience in marketing, brand development, and program/project planning, with a focus on the fashion, music, and sports industries. He has collaborated with prominent companies and brands, including Red Bull, MTV, Vice, Much Music, Sauce Hockey, and SECTION35. In addition to his professional background, Justin is dedicated to fostering the growth of women's hockey, having facilitated and coached various female hockey programs. Further demonstrating his commitment to the development of the female game, He also serves as a Program Director with focus on Female programming for HBIQ Sports which is a High Performance Training Facility and Program in Vernon BC playing host to elite players from Rep, Academy, Junior and NHL levels.
